Apply to help host the WTC in 2027 and beyond!

When the WTC was formed by Neil Kerr, Tom Adriany and Isik Belul, it was to ensure longevity for the event that grew from the European Team Championships to the truly global event it is this day, and to increase the quality and player-experience at the event. To do that, the expertise of running the event was leveraged, enabling us to build up a stock of WTC-owned inventory, driving down costs with purchases that can span multiple years of running the WTC rather than pivoting towards a 1-year cycle for the event.

Since 2022, the event was hosted in Belgium 4 times, with a passage in Leoben, Austria in between. We are now looking for able and willing partners to help us host and organise the WTC with us for 2027 (or beyond). To help us achieve that goal, we have installed a two-stage procedure to identify and select candidates. The selection of the host city will follow the process detailed below, and will have formal input from both WTC Leadership and the Captains Council, and this at every stage. A joint assessment panel featuring representatives from both WTC and the CC will evaluate submissions, and the WTC captains will have the final say through a Condorcet vote.

Stage 1: Request For Information (RFI)

In a first step, we will purpose an RFI Form to find a venue and city where the World Team Championship might take place in the next year/s. For this we petition applicants with experienced event management to support the execution of our annual tournament to fill out and submit the RFI Form. WTC Belgium seeks to collaborate with an applicant in the planning and implementation of its annual WTC event. The applicant is to help with event execution and planning, be the SPOC (Single Point Of Contact) for everything that relates to event location/city matters (this includes subventions and regulatory expertise) and manage the connection between WTC, the venue and local vendors-service providers.

Stage 2: Request For Proposal (RFP)

In a second step, everyone who is selected after the RFI process will be asked to submit a RFP document. This is a more detailed document outlining the entire scope of the application to help us host the WTC. We are currently refining the process with the captains council and will update this page when we have aligned and ratified the procedure and documents regarding.

Stage 3: Host Vote (WTC Captains)

In a last step, any RFP’s that are selected by assessment committee will be presented to the captains, and after a period to open the floor to the captains for questions regarding the bids, there will be a vote to select where the WTC will be hosted.
